The Boston Bruins ended their Canadian tour undefeated after an overtime win against the Calgary Flames last night. The deciding goal was scored by defenseman Charlie McAvoy with only 4.3 seconds left to play.
The Bruins defenseman were a force in the offensive zone last night. Along with McAvoy’s game winner, new addition Dmitry Orlov proved his worth by scoring two goals and tallying one assist. Orlov has fit in like the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle in Boston’s lineup, and it took no time at all.
However, probably the largest reason why the Bruins got the W last night was Linus Ullmark’s performance. While “standing on his head”, he tallied a personal and franchise record of 54 saves, keeping the B’s alive going into overtime.
Ullmark continues to lead the league in average goals allowed (1.88), save percentage (.938), wins (31), and goalie goals (1). As we inch closer to the playoffs, all we can so is hope for is this historic season to continue so we can see more postgame hugs between Ullmark and his co-pilot Swayman.
