ARE THE BRUINS BACK?

Last year, the Bruins had a historic season. They actually had the best regular season in NHL history. It was incredible.

However, eternal glory wasn’t reached. It all came crashing down in seven games in the first round of the playoffs. After a heartbreaking exit, two franchise legends, Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, hung up their skates, leaving massive holes in the center position. Along with rentals like Tyler Bertuzzi and Dmitri Orlov skipping town, it looked like the Bruins would plummet back towards league average in a hurry. Many suggested that this was the end of a long period of successful Bruins teams.

Not so fast!

The Bruins are 3-0-0 and may never lose again. That’s what experts are saying.

I mean, come on. A historically great team crashing down to mediocrity was always a questionable take. Even the 2008 Patriots (coming off a 16-0 season) went 11-5 after losing Tom Brady. The Bruins are still good.

Yes, the three teams Boston has played have been Chicago, Nashville, and San Jose — not exactly a gauntlet. But they’ve allowed just 4 goals in 3 games. New addition James van Riemsdyk has 3 goals in 3 games (an 82 goal pace) and superstar wing David Pastrnak has 4 goals in 3 games (a ~110 goal pace). This is completely sustainable.

The Bruins look good again and the script is set up for a Centennial Season Stanley Cup to avenge last season’s heartbreak. Strap in.

Are there flaws to my argument? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe go fuck yourself. The Bruins are back.
