Two big news stories in my sports hemisphere occurred since I wrote my last article on Monday: Damian Lillard was traded to the Bucks, and Coach Prime finally gave some clarity on the Cormani McClain situation.

Side note: I’ve got a few midterms that I’ve got to study for (nerdiest thing I’ve said in the history of this blog), so I’m gonna keep this one shorter than most.

DAMIAN LILLARD TRADED TO MILWAUKEE

The whole world thought that Dame was bound for south beach to unite with Jimmy Butler, but Milwaukee came in from the top ropes to be the ones to land the 7x All-Star. The trade was a massive three team deal that also involved Phoenix, who parted ways with DeAndre Ayton at long last. Here are the full details:

To say that Maimi’s players were disappointed hearing the news would be an understatement. To say they were childish in their social media outbursts would be a little more accurate:

I get it though, as a Boston fan, I am not too pleased with the news. The East has only gotten better, and now our road to the NBA Finals will likely have Giannis and Dame as roadblocks along the way.

That being said, I won’t lie, I am excited to see the duo of Dame and the Greek Freak in action. I have a feeling that they will pull some NBA Jam type shit like Giannis bull rushing the paint and going airborne for a monstrous dunk, only to dish it out to Dame for a deep three pointer.

DEION BREAKS DOWN WHY CORMANI MCCLAIN HAS BEEN GETTING NO TIME ON THE FIELD

Many people started watching my CU Buffs throughout this season as the hype grew to insurmountable levels, but only those who were attentive early in the process know the name Cormani McClain.

Cormani is a cornerback who was ESPN’s fourth ranked prospect coming out of high school in 2023. Going into the season, it was expected that Cormani would helm the Colorado defense alongside Travis Hunter, but as the season’s progressed, he has barely seen the field at all. Myself, along with my fellow Boulder students, were puzzled as to why he wasn’t getting any time. Many thought that he was undersized, some thought that his talents were overhyped, but nobody knew the real answer.

A little over a week ago, Deion was asked what was keeping him out of the game, and this was his response:

After that answer, we still had no idea why he wasn’t ready and how he was “holding himself back”. That was, until yesterday, when Coach Prime clarified his comments:

So, when Prime said he was “holding himself back” he meant that in all seriousness, and in every way possible. It seems that Cormani is flooded with talent, but has no ambition, intellect, or desire to be better. By the way Deion spoke, not only did it seem as if Cormani was watching far less film than he should, but he was skipping meetings and not understanding the defensive scheme at all.

If I were in Cormani’s shoes, I would not let this opportunity go to waste like he’s doing right now. He is playing for the greatest cornerback of all time, yet he seems to be refusing to learn anything from him. His NFL Draft stock is plummeting at the moment, and with Travis out, our team needs him more than ever. I, along with everyone else here at Boulder, hope he can turn his shit around ASAP.

I know it was a short one, but that’s it for today. Let me hear your thoughts on the Dame trade and everything Colorado in the comments, and Tweet us @A2ZSportsTakes with your hottest takes of the week!
