NFL WEEK 8 BETTING RECAP + A LOOK TOWARDS WEEK 9

Hello everyone, and welcome to the NFL week eight betting recap. If you are new here, you should know that I have been making picks on the spread and point totals (with occasional moneyline bets) for every game this NFL season. Heading into this week, my overall record was 111-108-3. Being positive is great and all, but when my winnings were calculated, I was still down 4.44 units on the year. Week 8 would change that.

As a reminder, here were my picks going into the week:

If you’re a degenerate gambler like myself, you probably took one look at my picks and immediately ran to grab new undies.

That’s right, you’re boy went 23-8-1 on the week, profiting 13.13 units. That brought my overall record to 134-116-4, and it put my net units back in the positive at 8.69. Now those are some respectable numbers.

I’m not going to pat myself on the back too much, though. This was easily the most predictable week of the season, with the only major upset being the Chiefs falling to the Broncos. The Niners did lose to the Bengals, but lots of bettors (including yours truly) were quick to jump on the Cincy +4.5 spread.

Another exciting (or not so exciting, I guess) tidbit from the weekend was our first pushed bet since week three! The Eagles and Commanders spread was set at 7, and with a final score of 38-31, all bets pushed. Wow, I just read that back and realized I explained a push to a bunch of people reading a gambling blog. That’s like explaining the difference between indica and sativa strains to Snoop Dogg. My bad fellas, the World Series is on, so I’m a bit distracted while writing this. I’m sure you’ll understand.

Looking forward to week nine’s slate, we’ve got some exciting matchups. The Dolphins face the Chiefs bright and early to kick off the Germany games, and if I’m not mistaken, this will be the best matchup Europe has seen yet. They usually get hot garbage like past Jaguars and Colts teams, but Fins vs Chiefs is without a doubt one of the best games you’ll find this season. The current line favors KC by one point.

Another AFC showdown to look forward to is the Bills vs Bengals matchup on Sunday Night Football. The Bengals are the hottest team in the league at the moment (no, I’m not talking about Joey B’s looks), and Josh Allen is aiming to redeem his “elite” status from those who’ve been calling him mid. The current line gives the Bills two points, but I expect this line to fluctuate as we inch closer to kickoff.

Last, but definitely not least, the Cowboys and Eagles face off for the first time this season on Sunday afternoon. They are clashing at Lincoln Financial Field for this go around, and their next bout will be in Jerry World on December 10th. As of now, Philly is favored by 3, and I feel like that’s a soft move by Vegas. It’s a spread bound for a push (shall I explain what a push is again?), but as of now I’m thinking of riding with the Eags. That being said, my picks are always subject to change before start times of games, so I’ll keep you posted on what my choice is on Twitter/X @A2ZSportsTakes.

That does it for today’s blog. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and I’ll see you back here on Friday for my last article of the week!
