At UFC 285 on Saturday night, Jon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane in the first round to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The dominating performance makes Jones just the third fighter to hold both the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles at some point throughout their career; the other two being Randy Couture and Daniel Cormier.
This fight cements Jon Jones as the G.O.A.T. of the UFC. With 15 title wins, his achievements are on a completely different level than any fighter in history. This tweet does a great job of putting it into perspective, comparing Jones to who someone who others consider to be in the G.O.A.T. conversation:
WHO WILL JON JONES FIGHT NEXT?
After the fight, Jones called out former heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic, and it looks like that fight is now set for UFC 290 on July 8th. In his post match presser, Jon Jones had this to say about the future fight:
“My whole world is going to be focused on him. This is the biggest opportunity in my life to beat the heavyweight G.O.A.T, and I’m going to give it everything I got. Absolutely everything I got.”

Stipe also had some choice words for Jones when appearing on “MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani:
EARLY THOUGHTS ON UFC 290
I think that there is no fighter capable of stopping Jon Jones. While Stipe Miocic is a one of the all time greats of the UFC, he doesn’t stand a chance against Jones’ skill and determination. As for the betting line, it is rumored to open with Jones as the heavy favorite at -330. You won’t ever see me betting anything -200 or worse, but you will see me betting on Jones to win by KO/TKO. So, while there is no line out yet for it, this is my pick:
UFC 290 result: Jones by KO/TKO
