WEEK 9 NFL RECAP – A MASTERCLASS IN BLOWING THROUGH A CUSHION

As a senior in college with midterms finished up and one final semester on the horizon, I’ve been forcibly reminding myself that the glory days are almost gone, and dark days lie ahead of me. That feeling of happiness slowly slipping away is exacerbated by the NFL season officially crossing the halfway point in the season. That’s right, week nine of the NFL season has passed, meaning we’re closer to the playoffs than we are to the start of the season. Scary, right?

However, with the halfway point being reached, I can now do a mid-season summary of my betting picks for the year. If you are unfamiliar with my work, I have been making picks on the spread, point totals, and occasional money lines for every game this NFL season. At this point, I have made 282 picks, and I currently have a record of 144-133-5. To a newcomer, that winning record might seem great and all, but compared to last week, week nine was a crippling one.

As aforementioned, last week was a career high for me. Out of 32 picks, I went 23-8-1, netting 13.13(!) units overall. Those +13.13 units brought my overall winnings for the year to +8.69 units, which ended up being a great cushion for what would come this past week. If you don’t remember/didn’t see them, here were my picks:

Ok, I know I’ve delayed it, but here it is: In week 9, I went 10-17-1 on my picks, netting -7.94 units. Not great.  That nearly blew through the entire cushion I had built up in previous weeks, but overall we are still +0.75 units on the year.

In case you are a visual learner, and wanted to track my picks with something other than numbers, I cooked up this graph with my extensive excel knowledge:

The Starry Night, the Mona Lisa, and A2Z’s Mid Season Betting Recap Line Graph: Art.

If you will take anything away from that graph, it should be that this week will be a winning one for the kid. I posed a question to ya’ll on Twitter/X after last week’s success, and I’d like to end with the same question this week:

So, after week nine’s poor performance, will you tail or fade me in week 10? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter/X @A2ZSportsTakes!
